Advanced infusion therapy

Autoimmune Infusion in Marshfield

Living with rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease, or another autoimmune condition can affect your quality of life.

Advanced infusion therapies offer symptom relief and help improve your well-being.

When Is an Autoimmune Infusion Necessary?

Your provider may recommend infusion therapy for conditions including but not limited to the following:

  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Crohn’s disease flares and / or prevention of flare-ups
  • Severe psoriasis
  • Psoriatic arthritis
  • Lupus, especially if you have active organ involvement

How Do I Prepare for an Infusion?

Make sure you’re hydrated, and eat a light meal beforehand.

Take any pre-medications your provider prescribes, dress comfortably, and bring something to keep you occupied during your infusion time.

Follow any other instructions given to you by your provider.

What Should I Expect During the Autoimmune Infusion?

A nurse will first insert an IV line if access is not already established and deliver your medication slowly over the prescribed duration, which could be anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours.

Vital signs, such as your heart rate and blood pressure, will be monitored throughout your treatment session.

How Long Is Recovery Afterward?

Most people don’t need downtime afterward and are able to return to normal activities immediately after their infusion.

You may feel fatigue or experience flu-like symptoms for a day or two as the medication takes effect.

Your provider will guide you on what’s normal and when to report your concerns.

Am I a Good Candidate for an Autoimmune Infusion?

Candidacy depends on your specific diagnosis, your symptoms, how you’ve responded to other treatments, your overall health, and other variables.

Your provider will evaluate whether infusion therapy aligns with your treatment plan and goals.
